Abayas...

Hola, nunca os he hablado sobre el traje " tradicional " que visten las mujeres árabes aquí. Se llaman abayas y es parecido a un bluson largo de color negro hasta los pies y con un pañuelo para la cabeza a juego.

Estos trajes los visten las mujeres locales. Me quede muy sorprendida al llegar aquí de los diferentes modelos de abayas que puedes encontrarte. Algunas de ellas son increíbles, con strass, abiertos por delante, de marca...

Hello, I have never spoken about the " traditional " dressing for Arab women here.

It's called abayas and are similar to a long black vest till their feet and with a head scarf.

These suits are used by the local women. I was impressed when I learnt how many different abayas models you can find. Some of these are amazing, with strass, open in the front, and made by a big variety of brands...

Muchas veces pensaba que tenia que ser horrible llevar la abaya puesta por encima de tu ropa con este calor, pero mi sorpresa llego al tener que vestirla para poder visitar la mezquita Sheik Zayed de Abu Dhabi, ya que el material es de una tela muy fresquita que deja transpirar. Ahora mi único pensamiento, es como pueden mantenerlas tan limpias mientras andan arrastrándose por el suelo y como mantienen el velo tan sujeto en la cabeza, cosa que me resulto imposible durante mi visita...

Many times thought that I had to be terrible to wear the abaya on top of your clothes with this heat, but my surprise came when I used it for the first time during a visit Sheik Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi. The material is a very fresh fabric that transpires perfectly.

Now my only though is how do they manage to keep them so clean even having part of it touching the ground while they walk and also how do they manage to maintain the veil well fixed on their heads, something I couldn't achieve during my visit even after trying my very best...

Siempre había pensado que vestían obligadas por su religión con la abaya, pero al llegar aqui ( al menos en Dubai ) no se en otros Emiratos, es una decisión de ellas y puedo asegurar que las ropas que visten por debajo son increíbles junto con sus maquillajes y peinados.

I always thought they were obliged by their religion to wear the abaya, but when I arrived in here ( at least in Dubai , since I do not know in other countries ) I learnt is up to them to decide how to dress in order to respect their religion and I can assure the clothes they wear underneath are incredible with sofisticated makeups and hairstyles.

Las tiendas son increíbles y no os hacéis una idea de los diseños tan sorprendentes que hay y tampoco de los precios, ya que no son nada asequibles...

En los centros comerciales y supermercados también puedes encontrar versiones low cost.

Yo me compre una el ano pasado para tenerla como recuerdo y para el mes del Ramadan, ya que durante ese mes tienes que ir vestida algo mas recatada de lo habitual.

The stores are incredible with great designs, but the prices are not affordable at all...

In the malls and supermarkets you can find low cost versions.

I bought one last year to have it as a souvenir and for the ramadan month, because during that time you have to dress more in a more conservative fashion.

Unos post atrás os decía que los deportes mas comunes en Dubai son aquellos al aire libre por el buen clima que hace durante casi todo el ano. Pues bien, que hacer durante los próximos terribles meses que nos esperan con esas temperaturas tan elevadas??? Habréis oído hablar de la pista de esquí indoor mas grande del mundo no?. Aquí esta, en pleno centro comercial " Mall of the Emirates ".

As I mentioned in one of my previous posts, the outdoor sports are the most common ones in here because the weather is good during most part of the year. So, what to do during the next terrible summer months with those very high temperatures?.

Have you ever heard about the largest indoor ski track in the world?. Its here, in the mall.

En ella puedes practicar esquí, snowboard y otras actividades invernales.

Las dimensiones de la pista hablan por si solas: 85 metros de altura, 80 metros de anchura y una longitud máxima de 400 metros. Hay cinco recorridos con diferentes niveles de dificultad.

Como cualquier estación de esquí que se precie, ski Dubai ofrece cursos de esquí y snowboard durante todo el ano. Los precios de las clases son un poco mas altos que los de las estaciones tradicionales.

En el precio de entrada se incluye toda la equipacion necesaria a excepción de los guantes.

Si no queréis esquiar, también hay una entrada de paseo. Con ella podréis, entre otras cosas, lanzaros por los toboganes helados o tomar una copa en el bar de hielo.

Recientemente han incorporado a una familia de pinguinos en las instalaciones.

Como os he dicho esta localizada en el centro comercial Mall of Emirates.

You can practice skiing, snowboarding and other winter activities in there.

The dimensions of the track speak for themselves: 85 metres in height, 80 meters in width and a maximum length of 400 meters. There are five routes with different difficulty levels.

As any ski station, ski Dubai offers ski and snowboard courses during the year. The prices of the classes are a little bit higher than those for a traditional station.

Ticket price includes all the necessary equipment with the exception of gloves.

If you do not want to ski, it's possible to buy a ticket for a walk. With this ticket you can jump off the slides of ice or have a drink at the ice bar.

 Ski Dubai is located in the mall of emirates.

Snowpark: adultos 120 dirhams ( 24 euros ), menores de 12 anos 110 dirhams ( 22 euros ).

Os dejo algunas fotografías para que veáis como es la pista por dentro y como se ve desde la calle, que es impresionante. La verdad que no le falta detalle. Tiene una cafetería que imita una cabana de madera desde la que puedes ver a través de su cristalera como esquían y el hotel Kempinsky en el que todas sus habitaciones dan a la pista.

Here you can see a few pictures of the incredible track. It's full of features and details. There is a cafeteria inside the track that imitates a wooden hut from which you can see the people skiing and also the Kempinski Hotel in which all its rooms overlook the track.
