Ramadan...

Hola, como ya os avanzaba en el anterior post, el ramadan empezó el pasado Viernes día 20 de Julio y finaliza el 19 de Agosto. El mes del ramadan es el noveno mes lunar y empieza con la aparición de la luna a finales de Sha' ban (octavo mes en el calendario lunar islámico )

Hello, a few days ago in my previous post I told you about the Holy month of ramadan. It started on Friday 20th July and will finish on the 19th August. The ramadan month is the ninth moon month and starts with the appearance of the moon by the end of the Sha' ban ( eight month in the moon islamic calendar )

Durante el ramadan, los musulmanes de todo el mundo realizan un ayuno diario desde antes del alba hasta la puesta de sol, tomando su primer comida al acercarse la oracion del anochecer. El objetivo del ayuno es ensenar a los musulmanes la paciencia y la humildad, asi como recordarles lo afortunados que son y hacer hincapie en la ayuda al necesitado y aquellos con menos suerte.

During the ramadan, all muslims fast from sunrise to sunset, having their first meal when the dusk praying approaches. The reason for fasting is to have the muslims growing up their sense of patience and humility, and to highlight how lucky they are to be healthy and alive, and to promote the help to the poor and unlucky people.

Esta es la segunda vez que me toca vivir un ramadan en este país. Lo que mas me sorprende ver es como durante este tiempo todos los lugares de comidas en los centros comerciales están cerrados y el que nadie, aunque no sea musulmán, pueda comer o beber en publico, por respeto a las costumbres y ademas porque podría recibir una multa.

Se abstienen de fumar, comer y beber por casi 10 horas.

This is my second ramadan in this country. The most impressive thing to me is that during this time many restaurants in the malls close during day time. It's forbidden to eat or drinking in public with no exceptions for non muslims people in order to respect their culture. You could even get a fine for any violation to these rules.

No smoking, eating and drinking allowed for almost 10 hours.

Alrededor de las 18:30 los atrios de todas las mezquitas se ocupan con cientos de hombres que se sientan en el suelo para compartir el alimento.

About 18:30 the yards of the mosques get full of prayers sitting on the floor to have their first meal.

Si estas en el trabajo o en un centro comercial veras como se retiran a los cuartos de oración, antes de romper el ayuno.

If you are working or in the mall, you will see the people going to the prayer rooms, before the fast is broken.

En los trabajos los horarios se reducen dos horas al igual que en las escuelas donde los ninos entran una hora mas tarde y salen una hora mas temprano que de costumbre.

The working hours are reduced by two hours, same as in the school, where children start school one hour later and finish one hour earlier.

La ciudad cambia durante este mes, las decoraciones en los centros comerciales son con lunas y estrellas, los bares no pueden poner música.

The city changes during this month. Decoration in the malls show moons and stars and the pubs are not allowed to play music...

Otro punto importante, es que aunque seas extranjera no musulmana, debes procurar vestir de una manera mas conservadora, aunque estemos a 42 grados...

Another important thing is to remember that women ( even non-muslim ) are required to dress in a more conservative manner. So the 42 degrees celcius is not an excuse...

Dubai mall...

Hola, os quiero hablar sobre el Dubai Mall. Como muchos ya sabréis este es el centro comercial mas grande del mundo con 1200 comercios entre ellos una pista de patinaje, un kidzania y un acuario. También tiene el parque temático SEGA.

Hello, today i want to tell you about The Dubai Mall. This is the world's largest shopping mall with over 1200 shops, including a skating rink, a kidzania and an aquarium amongst them. Other attractions include the first SEGA indoor theme park.

El Dubai mall se encuentra en downtown Burj Khalifa. Cuenta con tres pisos y sótano en el que se encuentran varias tiendas para hombre, mujer, para el hogar y electrónica. También tiene dos food courts, que se encuentran una en la planta baja y la otra en el tercer piso.

The Dubai Mall is located in downtown Burj Khalifa. It has three floors plus a ground floor where you can find several stores for men, women, home furniture and electronics. Also there are two food courts, one at the ground level and the other one on the third floor.

Tiene la tienda de dulces mas grande del mundo.

The Mall has the world's largest candy store.

Hay tambien una parte del mall llamada " fashion court " en donde se encuentran tiendas de diseñadores muy importantes como Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana, Coach y Chanel entre otras.

Also, there is a section in the Mall called " fashion court " where you can find the most important design brands such as Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana, Coach y Chanel...
